I’m a 23-year-old from Richmond, BC, Canada. My parents are from Bosnia & Herzegovina and I am born here, so I’m basically a native English speaker. I’m in my last year studying Psychology at the University of British Columbia, planning to study TESL and/or Commerce after graduation.
I have a couple of years of experience tutoring in English for secondary school. I can proofread and provide constructive feedback while you study English with me. I’m really friendly, open and you’ll feel 100% comfortable practicing English with me. My teaching philosophy is to see students succeed, improve and feel confident in their abilities. No judgments coming from me. My current writing and speaking level is College Graduate, but I have experience helping beginners and elementary-level English students.
My average grades in English courses (university-level):
— A- to A+
How easy it is to learn English with me?
— In 4 months, you will fix your pronunciation and speak better by 50%. I have experience with creating mini-lessons and facilitating as well as asking questions and providing feedback. You felt stuck, but I’ll make you feel more comfortable in making mistakes and improving as you go. It’s okay to make mistakes. Practice makes perfect.
No, there are many people you can be tutored by, and many courses and peers to find to practice English with.
As a complete beginner, it might take you 1-2 years to get more comfortable. But if you take an English course and connect with English-speaking peers in the area, you may be able to become fluent in just one year because English is the main language (lingua franca and official language) used in shops, schools, daily interactions, and institutions.
