Durham University Psychology Graduate from the UK who graduated with an Upper 2:1 (3.7 GPA), who has recently moved back to Hong Kong. I have been an English Tutor on a part-time basis for 4 years now. I have worked in multiple tuition centers (P&E Education and Monkey Tree) where I taught classes containing up to 17 students with the age of my students ranging from 7 - 17. I focus on improving my student's conversational English, while also working to improve skills tested in English Exams.
With the right amount of support, it can be easy to learn English. The more you speak and practise English listening, speaking, reading & writing skills the easier it will be to learn English. I am a true believer in immersion programs, so in order to make the most of the short time I have with each student I do my best to only speak English during my lessons.
The most important thing to learning English is continuous practice. If you are in Hong Kong and speak lots of English to different people it can be easy to learn and improve your English. But if you only practise your English during your lessons and don't speak any English outside of your classes it will be extremely difficult to reach a fluent level of English.
