Whilst I am employed by the Comunidad de Madrid to teach at a primary bilingual school, I would like to offer my services as a private tutor during the rest of my time in Madrid.
I am studying at the University of Exeter but I am currently in Spain as part of an Erasmus programme where I spend a year teaching in a Spanish speaking country.
As far as experience goes, I have worked in summer programmes teaching students of primary and secondary level.
The thought of teaching was always intriguing to me and now I am immersed in the teaching experience, I have gained much knowledge and respect for the field. Being a native speaker, I feel that I can provide an authentic learning experience and can adapt my methods by incorporating fun and dynamic ways of using games as well as challenges.
Depends on the motivation to learn and the teaching quality. I would say any previous exposure to a language would help but even at a beginners level, learning English is easier with the right form of teaching.
Although I believe it is very important for language learning, students already work on many grammar exercises at school. In my opinion speaking and listening are also vital aspects when learning a language.
I believe speaking will always have a greater impact on learning because the student can become familiar with accents and pronunciations that they may not come across in a classroom and learn to speak with confidence in that language.
Listening is as important as speaking due to accents being so different. Another reason is because many words in English may have different spellings but are phonetically similar. Therefore listening can help in distinguishing the context of these homophones.
