I am a native Cambodian tutor who has been teaching Khmer for nearly two years. I use textbooks and recorded audios as learning materials to help students learn. I focus on perfecting students’ pronunciation of sounds and words in Khmer since it is the most crucial part in beginning to speak a new language. I enjoy helping my students to learn to read, write and speak Khmer with a fun and friendly attitude. I am a very patient and friendly tutor who knows when to go faster or slower with each student.
Cambodian or Khmer is a language derived from Sankrit and Pali. It has sounds which might not exist in English or other languages which requires students’ patience to practice pronouncing them correctly. Luckily, this language has a very simple grammar which helps ease the learning. With self practice and the assistance from me, students will begin to understand basic topics and dialogues after the first 12-15 hours. They should be able to introduce themselves and talk about their family in Khmer. They should be able to count from 0-1000 and read Khmer alphabets and vowels.
For beginners who would like to hold basic conversations including doing self introduction, family talk, counting and reading Khmer alphabets, they will spend between 12-15 hours for the first course. Each student can choose to further their study if they feel satisfied after the beginning level. Private discussion will be required between the student and tutor.
