Everybody learns better when they are happy and relaxed, and that is my greatest strength as a teacher. I have experience as a community teacher of Turkish, English, and Mathematics, for children, high school and college students, as well as adults. As a lifelong learner of languages myself, my teaching methodology is based on social interaction and getting to use the language in contextual and meaningful situations. That is why it is fun to learn with me. Turkish seems hard at the beginning, mostly due to the two harmonies (vowel harmony and consonant harmony) rules, but this is the essential 'music' of the language. Once you get it, Turkish grammar rarely has exceptions. Training the ear through music makes it easier to follow the flow of speech and the patterns there help learn and remember the rules of language. So, come and sing with me!
At the beginning stages, for speakers of languages such as English, German, French or Bosnian, words feel too long, as Turkish is a syllabic language where you add syllables one after the other to show functions like person, number, negation, time and more. Thus 'I can't understand' is the single word 'Anlayamiyorum'. However, Turkish sound and grammar rules are very consistent, and exceptions are rare.
Learning a language can be hard anywhere but you can find many native and non-native speakers and on TV, there are always Turkish TV series to watch, which help with practice. You also have an awesome teacher in me!
