Ciao,
if you want to speak and learn Italian you are in the right place. Get in touch with me and let me know what's your goal, what timeframe, and what level you are at with la lingua Italiana. I don't have formal qualifications as are expensive and more dedicated to university students and foreigners moving long-term to Italy. I have traveled to 50 countries so I understand your concerns. It's all about practice and I'm here for you to make sure you have the skills necessary to feel confident in at least holding some small talk with Italians.
It depends. If you speak Spanish, French, and other similar languages, it's pretty easy to pick up. For English natives, it's a very similar alphabet with some different pronunciation and structure of phrases. For other languages it might be easier to learn if a more complex language, but harder if your language structure is simplified without the conjugation of verbs
Italian phrases for traveling will be the easiest to learn as Italians don't speak formal Italian in the street usually among themselves. Many actually speak their own dialect which in some parts of Italy can be quite different from current Italian standards. However, the new generations being exposed to English terms on social media, are more and more using these terms instead of lengthy and more complex Italian words. The Italian language grammar is quite complex so very few people will use the most complex syntax like a lawyer would.
