I am a native English teacher/Psychology Masters's student from the United States. I am currently looking for teaching/private English tutoring opportunities (in person or virtual) in Madrid anytime from mid-May-late July.
I have diverse teaching and mentoring experiences (i.e., arts and crafts, ceramics, ballet, graduate teaching assistant, and graduate research mentor) and I have worked with students of all ages (children and adults). In 2020, I became TEFL certified (150 hour + practicum, with distinction) and last year I was an Auxiliar de Conversación for one year at IES Gabriel García Márquez in Leganés, Madrid. I have continued teaching English as a private tutor for native Spanish speakers during the last two years and have found I genuinely enjoy it. In each of my teaching and mentoring experiences, I found great joy in providing the tools for students to achieve their goals and in turn seeing how that empowers them to continue to learn and grow for themselves; I am excited to encourage all my students this summer to do the same.
I have been learning Spanish since primary school. I participated in summer language intensives and studied abroad in both Spain and Argentina. Learning a second language has been a transformative experience opening new worlds; I hope to share this with others so they can experience the same thing.
Learning English in Madrid can be very attainable. There are a host of exchange programs and Native english speakers (like myself) you can get practice from.
It takes a lot of time and practice to learn English in Madrid. However, even speaking and practicing grammar for 2 hours per week can immensely improve your English skills.
